Noise Impact Assessment for Quarry Projects for various locations

Summary:

MOR was commissioned by Roadstone Ltd. to prepare a Noise Impact Assessment at their Brownswood Quarry, located south of Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.

Scope:

The Noise Impact Assessment required distinct elements of work, which included the following:

  • Ambient noise monitoring to characterise the local acoustic/noise environment;
  • Noise modelling to evaluate the impact from the proposed haul road on the local environment.

A detailed noise map was prepared utilising the onsite monitoring values and detailed 3-D topography data supplied from drone fly-over of the site.  The position of Noise Sensitive Locations (NSL’s) were inputted through review of online sources and confirmed by a site visit. The model was utilised to show the difference between the authorised method for aggregate transport and the proposed method for transport, and the likely audibility for future activity at the site.

Outputs:

The report outlined the scope of works, monitoring, modelling results and the potential noise impacts, if any, from the proposed extension.
