Air Quality and Odour assessment for Glanbia facility in Virginia
Summary:
Glanbia Ingredients Ireland Limited, Virginia (Glanbia Virginia), is a large, IE licensed dairy located on the banks of Lough Ramor, Co. Cavan. The facility was seeking planning permission for an upgrade that included the installation of new boilers, WWTP improvements, and a new dryer.
Scope:
MOR Environmental was commissioned to complete an assessment of emissions to air from the new boilers and the proposed dryer. We completed air dispersion modelling of the existing and proposed emissions from the site including carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, oxides of nitrogen and total particulates.
In addition, we completed an assessment of odour emissions from the onsite WWTP. We carried out odour dispersion modelling, and advised on the mitigation measures to be implemented at the WWTP to reduce odours. These measures were successfully implemented.
Outputs:
We prepared an Air Quality Assessment report in line with the EPA’s AG4 guidance, and an Odour Assessment Study, also in line with relevant EPA Guidance documents.
